Ebola: Group moves to save Nollywood

Following the ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Health to contain the further spread of Ebola virus in Nigeria, a Pan Igbo socio-cultural group in Nollywood, Ohaneze Ndigbo Nollywood has called on the movie practitioners to consider embarking on a recess from film productions pending when the coast will be cleared for safe practice.

The group reasoned that adhering to call would go a long way to curtail and possibly prevent the practitioners from being exposed to the danger of contracting the deadly virus.
The importance of this proposed recess cannot be overemphasized, it is a “stay-alive proposal” which aims to restore confidence in our resolve to combat and containthe viral spread of Ebola.

Addressing the National Executive Members of the Association in Ikeja, during the week, the President-General(Ezeomenani) Harris Chuma a.k.a Ogene Ndigbo stressed that “There is no alternative to serious health challenges ifyou want to change your future for the better. It is shocking, but it is true.Fear and doubt are now our bed-fellows and our greatest enemies. We must rise and stop Ebola virus from penetrating Nollywood. One cannot successfully execute a movie shoot without exposing the cast and crew from bodily contacts, both on set and off-set.”
