Banky W has shown once again that he is inarguably the most talented musician in the country.
The singer (and rapper) has released his debut single for the year 2015, ‘High Notes’. The new song is a classic R&B cut from the EME boss, and further displays his proven versatility in creating unique music.
Produced by the Cobhams Asuquo, the tune has an infectious Pop twist to it which sees Banky display incredible vocals while teasing fans with a rap verse.
The song is a call to a lady, praising her beauty. Banky W expresses his deep-felt emotion to each her, with vivid romantic wordplay, affirmation and promises thrown in for effect.
The song in itself is a tangible representation of Banky’s growth as an entertainer. In it, you see the classic R&B foundation upon which he has built his brand.
Then comes the pop version of the artiste, bringing in a credible understanding of the Nigerian industry dynamics, and the market demand for all things Afro pop. Finally, you get a whiff of Banky’s salient rap skills which comes to the fore with each song. This song has the potential to rule for years to come.‘High Notes’ stands out as a fitting first hand to play, albeit it took a long time coming. This year hasn’t been the best for Nigerian entertainment content. The general elections which held at the first quarter was dominant in the country, with its influence reaching deep into the music industry.But with its conclusion, the playlists have been flooded by music, with consumers facing a selection headache. So fierce has the completion been this year, with the consequence of that being the emergence of only one upcoming artiste. That man is Kiss Daniel. No other dreamer has seen real success.Enter Banky W. His new single hits the market at the right time. It’s almost perfect timing. First, Banky W kicked off the year with his interest in cinematography. His focus on that has been unwavering, and that has seen him grow in his craft, with videos released. ‘High notes’ video which will be made public soon, is shot by the man himself.Also, as boss of EME, Banky has overseen work from all his signed acts, while keeping himself relevant. All of these place Banky W in his own special league. Point me another artiste who can call of these personal and investment accomplishments, and still retain the hunger and skill to raise his musical standards. None.
