'We're NOT getting a divorce' - Celebrity couple dismiss rumours
Hollywood power couple, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have shut down viral reports that they are getting a divorce.
Rumours of divorce have been trailing celebrity couple in the last few days, and amid this, Pinkett says, 'marriages go through shifts'.
Speaking in the August 2015 issue of American Way magazine, Jada Pinkett Smith, 43, shed more insight into her high-profile 17-year-old marriage to Will Smith, and all the ups and downs included.
Pinkett Smith told American Airlines' inflight magazine that she and her husband are accustomed to the rumours.
In fact, they weather it together.
'Every year there’s a new one,' she said of the rampant speculation, the latest claims that she and her husband have finalized their divorce. 'And I’m like, ‘Here we go. Get ready. Are ya holdin’ on tight?'
The mother of two - Jaden, 17, and Willow, 14, confessed that a union is not always sunshine and rainbows.
''arriages go through shifts,'' she told the mag. ''And relationships go through shifts because in life, things shift. So people are automatically like, ‘What’s going on? They must be getting a divorce.’ Well, no. But when people feel those shifts and there’s a mystery, they have to fill it with something.''
Despite the constant talk surrounding her family, Pinkett Smith said she's unfazed.
In fact, the rumours and all are nothing compared to what other parents and families face daily.
''There are mothers out there losing their sons, their husbands, their daughters,' she said. ''I’m blessed. So scrutinize me. I’ll take that any day over what the majority of my people are dealing with on a daily basis. I dare not complain. Hollywood scrutiny has nothing on what I’ve survived just to be here.''
In an earlier interview with Howard Stern which took place in June, Pinkett said she knows her husband and what he stands for.
''Here's what I trust: The man that Will is... is a man of integrity. He's got all the freedom in the world,''' she dished on the SiriusXM radio show. ''As long as Will can look himself the mirror and be okay? I'm good.''
''When you can look in your man's eyes and know that he's holding you down and that he loves you,''' she mused, 'here's what's real: I'm not the kind of woman that believes a man is not going to be attracted to another woman.''
In the same vein, Will Smith also took to Facebook to dispel the rumoured divorce, describing it as 'foolishness'.
He wrote, ''So in the interest of redundant, repetitious, over & over-again-ness.... Jada and i are..... NOT GETTING A DIVORCE!!!''
He was equally up-front about his marriage while speaking with Us Weekly in February.
''Jada and I have struggled with that a little bit,''' he told Us. ''You'll realize that you're either really committed to having a relationship, or you're really committed to coming up. At some point one or the other is going to have to suffer.'
