Tecno Phantom 5 unveiled in Nigeria

Tecno mobile today unveiled the new Tecno Phantom 5 in Nigeria. The colourful event was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja with top celebrities like MI and Chuddy K in attendance. The new device is the 2015 flagship which succeeds the Boom J7 and the Camon C8, both which are not just affordable devices but also consumer targeted.

The Phantom 5 brings in the features of the two devices mentioned combined into one, i.e music, multimedia and camera capabilities alongside other improved specifications such as finger print sensor among others expected in a premium smartphone.

The Tecno Phantom 5 brings to the table arguably high end specs that other premium phone manufacturers like Apple, Huawei among other offers at an affordable price. According to Mr Chidi Okonkwo, the managing Director of Tecno mobile Nigeria, ‘a great technology doesn’t have to cost the world’

The new Phantom is a 5-inch device with a premium design and build quality. It’s all metallic, slim body at 6.8mm, finger print sensor, 13MP back camera with dual flash and an 8MP front camera that comes with a Flash too and a wide angle to accommodate more people into the selfie picture.
This device is expected to deliver more power and functionalities as it is powered by an Octa Core processor from MediaTek, it runs on the Android Lollipop 5.1, 4G network capability, RAM is 3GB and internal memory is a large 32GB. Battery capacity is 3000mAh which sounds like a good one. The Boom player also promises more than just good music but a 360 multimedia experience.

Mr Loius Njoku, HOD of Enforcement Directorate at the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) made it known that the organization ensures that interest of Nigerian consumers are protected as all phones coming into the country go through SON to ensure that the required standard requirements are met. He also charged Tecno to begin manufacturing their devices in Nigeria and added that Tecno phones have been certified worthy after meeting quality standards.

The Phantom 5 will be sold for N70,000….. well, before you scream, it has now become obvious that Tecno has comfortably leaped into the premium smartphone space and ready to battle it out with the big boys. How far can they go is also a question to ask but we have seen them gradually playing in that field with the previous Phantom devices.

After all is said and done, only time will tell but in the meantime, let me go and enjoy the offerings of Phantom 5. Trust me to do a full review in a few days.
