The struggle to contain the Ebola virus has received a boost as a team of Chinese doctors has arrived West Africa.
The 9 doctors departed from their base on Sunday and Monday and have arrived in the region.
News of the development was disclosed today by the spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, Sun Jiwen.
The Chinese authorities had earlier announced that they would send 3 teams of experts, consisting of one epidemiologist and two specialists in disinfection and protection, to aid in the fight against Ebola.
The experts are expected to work in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, which are the worst hit by the crisis.
China also announced plans to provide relief worth 30 million yuan (4.9 million U.S. dollars) to the 3 countries.
