The soldiers were reportedly given the order in a bid to curb the spread of the deadly virus.
According to reports, the Liberian armed forces have been given an order to shoot on sight any Sierra Leoneans who try to cross the border illegally.
The move was deemed necessary by the disease ravaged nation to enable it check the spread of the Ebola virus.
The order was given to soldiers stationed in Bomi and Grand Cape Mount counties, which border Sierra Leone according to the deputy chief of staff, Colonel Eric Dennis.
Border officials reported that immigrants had continued to pass through 35 known “illegal entry points,” and were constituting a major threat.
Liberia closed its borders to the neighbouring country weeks ago in attempt to stop the disease which has killed over a 1000 people in West Africa so far.
