Chris Brown has broken his silence about the moment he was reportedly shot at his pre-VMA party.

Shocking video footage shows terrified party-goers cowering on the floor after shots rang out.

Speaking on Twitter today, the singer said: "It is disappointing that we as a society cannot have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes. Miss me with the b******t."

Revellers were told to "get down" after the singer was reportedly targeted in the shooting and three people were injured and taken to the city's Cedars Sinai hospital - one remains in a critical condition.

The video is captioned: "Just experienced a shooting in #1Oak #LA Suge Knights was shot and this is #ChrisBrown going nuts afterward. Notice the bouncer screaming to get down."

According to TMZ, model Tyson Beckford, who was at the bash with celebrity pals, heard four shots ring out in the club before police rushed to the scene and the nightspot was evacuated.

Chris, 25, was uninjured, but music producer Suge Knight, who founded Death Row Records, was taken to hospital after walking out of the club and being spotted by officers.

Katie Clendon, who is believed to have been at the party, posted a message on her Twitter account claiming she thought the gunmen were aiming at Chris when they fired the shots.

She wrote: "Literally can't believe what I just witnessed. Someone tried to fire shots at Chris Brown at 1oak. Speechless."

Katie added: 'Prayers to all those harmed by this. Honestly still in disbelief this happened.'"

The star posted a number of photographs on Instagram throughout the night but has made no mention of the incident on social media.
