Michael Brown has been buried.
The 18-year-old was shot dead on August 9, 2014 by police officer, Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri.
There are varying reports about what really happened between Wilson and Brown but the teen’s death, after being shot 6 times, has led to protests around the US.
The fact that Michael was unarmed at the time of the shooting led many to believe that it was a race-related killing.
An emotional funeral service was held in honour of Michael yesterday, August 25, 2014 at the Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church.
Civil rights activist, The Reverend Al Sharpton said:
“This afternoon, Lesley and Michael Sr. will have to do something that is out of order,” Sharpton said. “They will have to lay their son to rest. Order says that children bury their parents. It is out of order … for children to be buried by their parents. We should not sit here today and act like we’re watching something that is in order.”
Michael had just graduated from high school and was due to resume college when he was shot.
His family said he spoke often of how he was “going to shake the world.”
And he did. Michael Brown shook the world.
